CluBE Highlights Industrial Heritage as a Catalyst for Sustainability in Western Macedonia
On Thursday, 19 December 2024, the Bioeconomy and Environment Cluster of Western Macedonia (CluBE) participated in the conference titled “The Industrial Heritage of Western Macedonia as the Identity of the Region and Its Culture.” The event, organised by Parémvasi magazine, took place at Kozani’s Municipal Library and brought together citizens, organisations, and experts to explore the importance of the region’s industrial heritage.

With the central theme “Industrial Heritage in the Dual Transition of Western Macedonia as a Lever for Sustainability and Reconnection with the Region’s History,” CluBE showcased the potential of repurposing industrial remnants for sustainable development. The projects MarginUp! and iCOSHELLs were presented as exemplary initiatives demonstrating how innovation and sustainability can revitalise the region’s rich industrial past.
The conference included insightful presentations by specialised scientists, who discussed the historical, cultural, and economic significance of preserving industrial heritage during this critical period for Western Macedonia. The discussions highlighted the role of industrial heritage in shaping a sustainable future while reconnecting the community with its unique history and identity.
